EXHIBITIONS
Centre For British Photography, London.
September 2023 - December 2023

A tiny corner of the worldwide Christian Church

The Centre for British Photography invited young photographers between the ages of 14 and 21 to submit their work as part of an Open Call competition. Winners would have their submission displayed online and in the Centre for British Photography exhibition space.

The theme of the exhibition revolved around "community". In this image, a handful of people worship in their local Church, while all over the world, there are around 2.6 billion other Christians who will do the same.

I was selected as one of the six winners for the exhibition. It was an honour and a privilege to have my image displayed at such a prestigious venue.

York Hospital, Yorkshire
May 2023 - January 2024

A tribute to the Rainbow

York Teaching Hospital and NHS Foundation Trust provides a varied, ongoing programme of artistic enhancements to improve the environment and experience of being in the hospital buildings and community - based centres for patients, staff and visitors.
The Arts Team asked students to submit images surrounding either themes of colour or botanical/scientific illustrations to add to the space.

Submissions were required to be high quality photographic artwork that must be uplifting and colourful in order to work well in the clinical environment. The chosen winners had their work displayed alongside John Shepard's photographic images at York Hospital.

It was an honour to have my image displayed, alongside other talented photographers. It's a privilege to contribute to a space dedicated to healing and inspiration.

My Granny Living Alone
Working across York St John University, the ISJ facilitates social justice research, projects and partnerships that help to promote a fairer society. Their blog presents some of this activity.
The photographic series published in their February 2023 blog reflects my response to a University project which centred around the theme of silence. Our brief required us to interpret this theme in our own ways and develop our own individual conceptual and practical approach.

I chose to photograph the home of a widowed elder living alone using a documentary style to capture silence, isolation and loneliness. I photographed furnishings and other evidence of her life that represented the day to day struggles that she might face.
